Biography

Carmel is from Gort an Choirce in Donegal. 

In 1992 she completed a B.A. in Media Studies in the University of Ulster, Coleraine. After that she spent some time studying in the National Film and Television School, in Beaconsfield, England and she attended a training course in television production with RTÉ.

She spent 12 years working in the independent television sector in Ireland. During that period she worked for production companies throughout the country, for example EO Teilifís, Ocean Films, Besom Productions, Gaelmedia and Asylum Pictures. 

She is working as a Communications Executive with an tAcadamh since 2003.

• An Scéalaí Deireanach: An hour-long documentary about the life of the folklore collector Seán Ó hEochaidh, and the background to storytelling in Ireland. 
  A production by Besom Productions and Asylum Productions for RTÉ/Irish Film Board/TG4/MEDIA.  
• Rotha Mór an tSaoil: An hour-long documentary based on the book Rotha Mór an tSaoil that provides a description of the adventurous life led by Micí Mac Gabhann and his quest to find gold in America. 
  A Faction Films and Glassmachine Films production for RTÉ/BBC/Irish Film Board/TG4.
