Eoin is originally from An Spidéal in Cois Fharraige, where he is currently living. Aside from his daily work in the University, he is an active member of voluntary and community committees in An Spidéal.
Eoin attended primary and secondary school in An Spidéal, Co. Galway; he completed a B.A. in Irish and History (1992) and an M.A. in Irish (1995) in the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Eoin was in charge of the Translation Service for Bord na Gaeilge in Dublin between 1995 and 1997 and he also worked as a translator and interpreter in Rannóg an Aistriúcháin in The Houses of the Oireachtas between 1997 and 2001.
He is Administrator of the Translation and Corpus Planning Unit since 2001, and he is also the academic director of the following courses: Dioplóma sna Dána (Scileanna Aistriúcháin), Dioplóma Iarchéime / M.A. (Léann an Aistriúcháin) and the undergraduate course, Léann an Aistriúcháin (B.A. Omnibus). He works in Ionad na Ceathrún Rua and on the University Campus.
He has a particular interest in the translation of legislative texts, terminology, interpretation, the Irish dialects, local history and the life and works of Máirtín Ó Cadhain.
Eoin is married to Síle and they have two children.
