What they say
|
I am a student on the BA course in Business Administration. One of the main reasons I chose to do this degree was to learn good business and communication skills. The fact that the course is being taught through the medium of Irish means that I am improving my written and spoken Irish all the time. It's an exciting course with great prospects. For example, I am only in the first year and already I have plans to start my own business. I now have knowledge of economics, management, accounts and computing skills that I need to achieve my objective..." Francesca Leonardi

You will also receive an overview of the social and cultural environment in which bilingual organisations function. In third year you will have the choice of a work placement or studying at a university abroad. In fourth year, in addition to continuing your studies of specialised business subjects you will complete a research project

Career Opportunities
|
Recent years have seen an increased demand from a range of organisations working through the medium of Irish for third level graduates who can work in a bilingual business and administrative environment throughout the country. The organisations in question come from a broad range of sectors including the public sector (i.e. The Department of Rural, Community and Gaeltacht Affairs and Údarás na Gaeltachta), the broadcasting sector (RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and TG4), the Gaeltacht business sector, the education sector, national and local Irish language organisations, and community based co-operatives and local development organisations. With the advent of the Official Languages Act and the increased emphasis by Údarás na Gaeltachta on the development of language based employment projects in the Gaeltacht areas, the employment opportunities for such graduates in the public sector and elsewhere is expected to increase significantly in the future.
